Last year, our technical team traveled across continents to the heart of Africa, arriving at a mega copper mine we internally call “Factory A.” As one of the largest copper producers on the continent, this enterprise processes a massive 7,534 tons of ore daily. The challenge laid before us was clear: further increase metal recovery rates without disrupting the existing production rhythm. This was not only a test from the client but also a reflection of Xinyong’s nearly two decades of technical expertise in the field of water-soluble functional polymers.
At Factory A’s flotation workshop, we didn’t just supply the SY flocculant for tailings treatment; more importantly, we introduced our "superior product" of collectors: 9A, 9B, and 9F.
The performance of the 9B collector was particularly impressive. Its unique molecular design targets complex polymetallic ores, and the data we brought back from the field tells a compelling story. In a silver mine flotation test, 9B achieved an exceptional overall recovery rate of 96.2%. More remarkably, it suppressed the silver grade in the tailings to an extremely low 5.4 g/t. Compared to the competitor’s product previously used on site, 9B not only increased the recovery rate by over two percentage points but also significantly reduced silver loss in the residue, truly ensuring that every bit of value is captured.
This performance advantage stems from our meticulous refinement of the product’s physical form. Both 9A and 9B are liquids ranging from yellow to dark brown, with a specific gravity strictly controlled between 1.140 and 1.180 g/cm³. This high-concentration, highly fluid state allows the on-site dosing system to operate flawlessly, completely eliminating worries about clogging or leakage. Even better, with a near-neutral pH range of 9.0–10.0, it causes minimal corrosion to workshop piping and equipment, reducing environmental treatment pressure right from the source.
Meanwhile, our 9F collector earned applause on another gold processing line. Containing 49.0–51.0% modified ester complexes, it demonstrates excellent "manners" in a mildly alkaline pulp—exhibiting weak collecting power for pyrite but exceptionally strong selectivity for target gold minerals. In practical testing, it successfully boosted the gold concentrate grade from 8 ppm to 15 ppm while also raising the metal recovery rate significantly from 22% to 27%—achieving a dual breakthrough in both grade and recovery efficiency.
In the tailings treatment stage, our SY flocculant also played a critical role. In settling experiments conducted on cyanide-containing effluents, SY’s average settling velocity ranked first, comprehensively outperforming the two flocculants currently in use on site. A faster settling speed translates directly into a shorter treatment cycle, optimizing the overall cost of tailings management for the client.
This trip to Africa reinforced our core belief: true value is born from meticulous molecular design and the sense of duty to solve real-world problems on the front lines. As a Manufacturing Single Crown Enterprise of Ningbo and a National “Specialized, Refined, Unique, and Innovative” Little Giant, we rely on our three major production bases across Zhejiang, Hubei, and Guangdong—all operating under triple ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications—to provide efficient, eco-friendly, and customized solutions for the global mining industry. We are more than just a reagent supplier; we are a professional technical service partner. We look forward to crafting a new chapter of industrial upgrading together with you.
